I’m guessing that we would still have some down days, because even in the fairy tales, life can get a little messed up some times.
In our childhood years we dreamed of all the good things that life would bring us when we finally “get big.” Little did we realize that a wolf who huffs and puffs will try to blow our house down and a wicked witch will come along and hand us a poisonous red apple.
Life doesn’t turn out the way we imagined, does it.
I’ll be the first one in line when we’re asked to step forward and talk about all the really, really good things we have in our lives. And…tough things happen too.
We breathe it silently…it’s whispered into pillows…
…I didn’t think my life would be like this.
Years ago we didn’t imagine caring for elderly parents, or waiting for the scan results. We didn’t consider that children might make bad choices, or that marriages would end, or that joints wouldn’t move like they used to, or that dreams would fade.
Here’s what I’m learning. Here’s what I’m believing.
In the sadness and disappointment…
In the anxiety…
In the medical frustrations…
In the career U-turns…
In the loss…
God is faithful.
My heart is caring deeply this evening for all those who are saying,
Wow. I didn’t see that coming. How will I ever get through this.
You aren’t alone.
Whether you feel His presence or you feel only a cold chill and a knot in your belly…God is right there with you. You have not been abandoned.
Ask Him to make his presence known to you.
Ask Him to breathe warmth and life into your weary bones.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess,
For he who promised is faithful.
God is faithful.
