Summer brings some mighty big storms.
Storms that threaten to destroy so much.
Storms that mess with our minds and hurt our hearts.
But summer is not only storms.
Summer is picnics. Baseball games.
Tents and sleeping bags. Pontoons and s’mores.
Reading paperbacks outside. Car drives with the windows down.
Iced coffee at the sidewalk café under canvas umbrellas.
Bike rides around the lake. Roasting wieners.
Blueberries and strawberries and raspberries.
Dinner on the porch. Farmer tans.
Popsicles and sticky fingers.
Summer is a chance to breathe fresh air deeply.
Oh, may I not get so caught up in the rain and thunder and lightning strikes that I miss what else is going on around me.
May I choose to live in the summer sunshine.
