My friend, Mary Lou, and I were discussing how bothersome those pin-on name tags can be.
One little snag from pin holes on fragile fabric and the material can unravel quite quickly.
Note: Two hours of trying on the closet to find the perfect outfit, another 30 minutes to pick out the perfect top, and another hour to make sure it is wrinkle-free and all the buttons work…And one little “Hello, My Name Is…” name tag pin can ruin the blouse faster than underarm sweat stains.
It made me start thinking about other little choices that can become big problems…
Procrastinating for no good reason. (There’s always a good excuse.)
Ignoring the dentist when he says, “Floss!” (OK. This one has my name on it.)
Eating just one little brownie. (Like that’s even possible.)
A sentence spoken in anger without filter or thought.
A promise not kept.
Gossip shared.
Yeah…
Some unravels are more dangerous than others.
Oh, if I would only stop and think sometimes. Before I act or speak.
It’s the little things that become big things that change relationships, events, and lives.
I didn’t mean it…
It just came out…
I wasn’t even thinking…
Oh, Lord, help me be more mindful of every word that leaves my lips, every time I engage in conversation. Forgive me for those times when my words have hurt and my actions injured. Show me where apology is needed. Help me use kind words that cheer the anxious heart.
Mary Lou and I agreed that magnetic name badges worked much better than the pins.
Unraveling could be avoided…
…by simply making a better choice.
I think that little tip goes beyond name tags. Would you agree?
