I think of the new day as a square box wrapped in crisp, white wrapping paper. A cobalt blue, silk bow is tied around the box. It’s easy to unwrap. My name is written in beautiful calligraphy on a small note card, attached with a thin silk thread.
Inside the box are thousands of God’s promises and blessings just waiting to pop out and surprise me during the next 24 hours. Once the lid is removed, they spring out like millions of little jack-in-the-boxes. You can almost hear them squeal with delight as they each leap into action to bless my day.
Isn’t that cool?
I mean, really!
All of God’s blessings are mine – as long as I accept and open the gift.
When my eyes begin to open in those too-early morning hours, I make a choice.
I choose to face the day on my own strength and courage… reaching for my little briefcase of “Sure hope this day is better than yesterday” messages.
Or, I choose to accept the beautiful gift and all those little promises tucked inside it…knowing that His strength is perfect. It can, and will, be a good day.
“It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.” (2 Samuel 22:33)
It’s kind of like celebrating your birthday every single day of the year, isn’t it!
