Hey, hi!
It’s been an exciting week here. I finished writing my new book and now it’s in the talented hands of the designers! Yippee!
I’m excited about this book—the stories, the Bible messages, the encouragement—and am looking forward to telling you more about it.
And … writing can be hard!
You’ve probably experienced something like this:
You’ve stayed focused on a project for a while. Maybe it’s writing, or lots of time cooking, balancing a frustrating checkbook, riding in a car, too many meetings scheduled, or even visiting with people!
And now? You just don’t have the energy for that activity anymore. You need a break from the kitchen, numbers, car, meetings, or people.
I’m in that place of no more words! I don’t know what to do with words! Stop the words!
OK. Perhaps that was a bit dramatic. But you know what I mean, right?
Yet, I do have a few words to share with you this week. They’re from my new book, and they have been sitting in my heart for a while. It feels good to hold them there, and to share them.
****************
Do you remember the Bible story about Job and his terrible season? At one point he said he didn’t know where God was—couldn’t find Him anywhere.
Job says, “If only I knew where to find God … I go east, but he is not there. I go west, but I cannot find him. I do not see him in the north, for he is hidden. I look to the south, but he is concealed.” (Job 23:3, 8–9)
Job could not see God in any part of his life. Yet, he remembers this in verse 10: “But he knows where I am going.”
What hope that brings us!
God knows where we are and where we are going.
If God is feeling distant now, listen to that promise. God knows where you’re going!
Then take these words to heart from Psalm 139:5:
“You [God] have surrounded me on every side,
behind me and before me,
and You have placed Your hand
gently on my shoulder”
(The Voice).
I love the picture of God walking alongside you. Placing His hand on your shoulder. That’s such a tender, compassionate gesture, isn’t it? He’s saying, I see you. I care. I’m here.
There is hope in these words. Let them sit in your heart for a while.
God sees where you are today.
He knows what you’ve gone through.
He knows where you are going.
He’s with you every step of the way.
You can trust Him.
