✨ Feeling Invisible but Not Forgotten

Have you ever felt like you suddenly became the Invisible Woman, minus the cool cape and superpowers? One minute you’re right there in the mix—talking, contributing, showing up—and the next you’re standing by the potted plant, holding someone’s purse and silently mouthing, “I’m actually very interesting!”

If you’ve ever had that “am I even here?” sensation, you are in good company. We’ve all whispered the same thing. It’s just that most of us say it quietly … because we don’t want to make a fuss. (Right?)

And you know, sometimes the invisible feeling hits even when we’re surrounded by very nice people with very kind hearts. Life is busy. People are distracted. And we end up feeling unseen or overlooked. We find ourselves standing in a room full of humans, yet wondering if anyone notices how much we do, carry, and hold together.

Then there are those Jack-in-the-Box moments. You’re clipping through your day, crossing things off the to-do list like a boss, and just when you’re feeling accomplished … POP! Out jumps the memory of that one mistake you made 13 years ago. Ugh. Or the phone rings with news you did not order. Ooftah.  Suddenly your tidy day looks like the Jack-in-the-Box clown—wild hair everywhere, scary, dark red smile, and zero regard for your emotional stability.

I wrote more about this in Letter #21 “Feeling Invisible” in Anticipate God’s Goodness: Letters of Encouragement to Ignite Your Spirit. I’ve wrestled with these same feelings.

I chose to write the whole book in letter form because I wanted it to feel like we’re two friends sharing stories in our favorite sweatshirts and elastic-waist pants. No judgment about the current state of our hair and no pretending we have it all together. I’m simply sharing what I’ve learned along the way, as friends do. You don’t have to figure any of this out alone.

Now … let me lean in close and remind you of what is true:
You are seen. Never overlooked. Not once.
Not by the God who created you, loves you, hears you, and stays with you in every season, every role, and every room.

Even when it feels like the world has forgotten to notice—He never does.

After I finished writing Anticipate God’s Goodness, I realized I didn’t want to just read truth, nod along, whisper “yes,” and then move on to the next thing on my list. I wanted to actually let it sink in. And I figured you might feel that way too.

So. Since God doesn’t hand out spiritual sticky notes for our bathroom mirrors, I created the companion guide, Reignite Your Spirit! A space for us to slow down, breathe, reflect, and let God’s reminders settle deep into our hearts.

If your heart is craving encouragement that feels personal, hope-soaked, and just witty enough to make you grin and whisper, “Oh, I needed that,” I’d love for you to have these books in your hands. I truly believe God will use them to refresh your spirit and remind you of His goodness in this season and the next.

Because here’s the deal, friend…
You matter.
You make a difference.
And you are absolutely, without question, seen.

Cheering for you today,
Gaye

P.S. If your heart needs a breath of fresh air and encouragement, pull up a chair and start with Letter #21—and let God remind you that you are seen, known, and wildly loved.
