Are you wondering if God has forgotten about you? He hasn't. Not ever.

If God were to send you a message, I think He’d write something like the words in this note.
The movie credits splash the names of the stars across the screen. We know who they are; they are the people who producers depend on to get us into the theaters. The biggies. But you know, I’m more intrigued by those whose names show up in smaller fonts. The actors whose parents lean forward in their red cushion theater seats and squint their eyes to watch for their son’s or daughter’s name roll up at the very bottom of the list, long after everyone else has left
It was a bad day. I mean, a really bad day. My friend, David…the one in the Bible who wrote the Psalms…was having a day that makes me feel anxious just reading about it. Here’s how he described it in his 69th Psalm: …the waters have come up to my neck… …I sink in the miry depths where there is no foothold… …the floods engulf me… …I am worn out calling for help… …My eyes fail… And then. The biggie. …Those who hate me without reason outnumber
Ok. Let’s review. (She says to herself first.) Here are phrases that do not show up in The Good Book; words that are never said by God, The Great Promise Keeper… You’ve got a big load of stuff to do today. Good luck with that. Sure wish today was over. It just keeps getting worse. You always mess up. Can’t you just get your act together? You’ve been struggling with that situation for years. It’s not going to change. It’s never going to end, you know. Bad
This is so fun to share! Creativity doesn’t have to be lonely. And the good news is – there is the perfect community if you are a creative like me! If you have dreams of writing a book, booking speaking engagements, launching a podcast, starting a business, AND doing it all in a God-honoring way – Called Creatives is the place for you! Hey, hi. There’s encouragement here for YOU today. Scoot your chair up. Slip on your reading glasses. Mute the TV. I don’t want you to miss this. Discouragement can show up at the most inopportune times, can’t it? Not that there’s a good time, but has this happened to you? Life seems to be humming along, no crisis in sight, and then like a Jack-in-the-box, a frustration, lie, or sad memory jumps out in front of you. It stares right at you with its scary, dark red
Perhaps you’ve heard the saying, He has the patience of a saint. I was thinking about God today, and how patient He is with me, and I used that phrase to describe Him in my mind. But then I thought, well, that doesn’t make any sense. Because He IS a saint. Or, He’s the Saint of All The Saints. But maybe I shouldn’t call Him that because it takes away His divine nature. And then I started worrying that I was really getting my doctrine all mixed
The tag attached to the cute, colorful shirt proudly proclaimed One size fits all. Hmmm… Those four words always end up creating panic when I attempt to pull the piece of clothing over my head. Because, really. Does one size actually fit all? No. I’m here to testify. It does not. Shirts that supposedly fit everybody don’t work for me. They frequently hang funny off my shoulders. Too tight in some places; voluminous in others. Too long for my short legs or not enough coverage on the
Grab a chair and slide it in close. Put a soft pillow on your lap to rest your arms on. Lean in. Imagine that I’m looking into your beautiful eyes as I whisper … God is good. He’s got good things planned for you. On February 21, 2018, I wrote myself a message on page 1,179 of my Bible: I am not too old. It’s written next to these words from Isaiah’s 43rd chapter: Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am
I wonder what God’s voice sounds like. It must be a blend of strength, gentleness, immense power, vibrant spirit, hearty laughter, and sweet kindness. I’ve never heard it audibly, but the Holy Spirit has whispered into my heart at times. Sometimes it’s a few words of encouragement. Other times, He’ll remind me to get my act together. He’s like that you know. Tender and direct. This morning as I settled into my Bible study time, the Holy Spirit nudged me with this reminder: God is able. How
The Amazon Prime van drove up slowly through our unplowed streets and I heard the snow scrunch under its tires. I’d been waiting for this day and its delivery, and I caught its early morning arrival from my office window. Somewhere, behind the van’s dark blue siding and the light blue smiling arrow, was the book I’d preordered weeks ago. It had arrived. As the driver cautiously shuffled back down the driveway, I grabbed the box from the front porch with a quick Thanks so much! Before
