A reminder from my heart to yours:
In the chaos, conflict, disasters – when hearts hurt, and the noise and tragedies are overwhelming – we can still find Jesus.
I don’t mean this as a cliché or an easy platitude that brushes past the pain; it’s a true and steady reminder that even in the deepest struggles, Jesus is with us.
You and I have friends who are hurting. It might be for a million different reasons, but the impact is the same: hearts hurt.
So.
Let’s reach out to those friends. Remind them that Jesus is right there with them in the middle of all the stuff. Remind them that when we have Jesus, we can have peace and hope.
A few years ago, I wrote the prayer below: Give Me Jesus.
When we don’t know what to pray, when the heaviness is too much, we can simply whisper …
Give me Jesus.
I shared this prayer last summer, but I still want to send it to you again this week. Our friends need the message. It gives us words when we don’t know what to pray, and it gives us hope when our hearts are weary.
How about forwarding this email to a friend with a little note that says something like this: “I read this short prayer today and it encouraged me. I hope it encourages you, too. You are my friend, and I care about you.
You can also download this prayer and save it – or print it out and mail it your friend.
Wherever you are and whatever you need . . .
Jesus is there.
Give Me Jesus
Dear God,
When my worries are great,
Remind me that you are greater.
When everything seems so dark,
Please bring me a ray of sunshine.
When the world screams,
Help me hold my tongue.
When I feel forgotten,
Nudge me and hold me tight.
When life seems lonely,
Please send me a friend.
When my heart is sad,
Show me the joy.
When I want to give up,
Give me hope.
When I’m tired of trying,
Give me rest.
Always …
Give me Jesus.
Amen.
