Time For a Zip Code Change?

Well, hi there!
I’ve got an idea for you, so …

Slip off those slippers and slide into something a little more fun.
(And no, removing your slippers is not required. But stay with me here.)

YOU have this one big, beautiful life.
It’s filled with habits and moments and celebrations… and a whole lot of same-old.

We like comfortable.
We live in comfortable.
(If comfortable had a zip code, we’d all have mail there.)

But…
What if this spring, we switched things up a bit?
What if we slipped off the slippers and stepped into something different?

Moved a little more. Dreamed again.
Tried something that doesn’t already have a groove in our schedule.

Go ahead. Do it.

Maybe it’s time to stop waiting for the “right” time.
(The right time is often wearing sweatpants and not showing up. I know. I’ve been there.)

Maybe it’s time to let go of the excuses.
Move through the fear.
Stop worrying about what people might think.

And maybe, just maybe, it’s time to stop trying to do it perfectly, and start doing it joyfully.

Because here’s the deal…

Every one of us has that something we’d love to try.
It doesn’t have to be big. It doesn’t have to be impressive.
And it is absolutely OK if we mess it up.

We’re not trying to become someone else.
We’re just finally giving ourselves permission to show up as the version of us that’s been waiting.

So how many times do we have to hear “life is short”
before we start living like we believe it?

So…
Do the fun.

Paint the picture.
Ride the bike.
Change your hair.
And then change it again.

Walk the block.
Try the recipe.
Dance in your living room.
Rearrange the furniture (and then wonder why you did).
Wander through a bookstore.

Or pull out the pots and pans like a 3-year old and bang on them to the rhythm in your heart.
Just because you can.

Maybe it’s time for a zip code change:
from same-old… to new-fun.

And when you make the move?
Don’t be surprised if joy shows up a little louder than expected.

Because God is always doing something new in our lives.
He has such good things planned for you.

One of my favorite verses says it this way:
Isaiah 43:19: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”

If God is already at work doing something new…
maybe it’s time we step into it.

Listen to your heart.
Find your fun.
Do it.
