He was one of the happiest guys I’ve ever seen.
He bounced into Culver’s Restaurant with a broad smile and eyes that said, Today is awesome!
This guy ordered a sandwich and fries and the ice cream of the day. Before his order was up, he was already savoring his ice cream treat. He leaned against the counter, clearly enjoying every lick and spoonful of that Snickers Swirl. Fully engaged in the moment. He didn’t have earbuds in, but he obviously had some good tunes playing in his head! Everything about him said he knew how to enjoy life. And intentionally or unintentionally (probably the latter), he was sharing his enjoyment with the rest of us.
What a treat to watch.
He walked in, and sunshine entered.
I want to enjoy the moment that’s as simple as an ice cream of the day treat. Play music in my head that gives me energy and lifts my soul. Share the smiles. Let my attitude tell you that Life is good! It’s a “this is livin’ moment!”

Here’s the deal … I bet you’re already doing it.
- You know that kind word you said today? You brought the sunshine.
- That patience you showed in the grocery store checkout line? You brought the sunshine.
- The words you did not say when you were annoyed? You brought the sunshine.
Summer sunshine’s got nothing on the brightness you bring, and you probably aren’t even aware of it!
You can bet that someone in your path today is living in the grey. Cloudy with thunderstorms forecasted.
They need someone to help push those clouds to the side and reveal something good. They want to know that the sun will shine again. That the storm is temporary, and a rainbow shows up when it’s over.
So, keep showing up. Sunshine is a big deal. It brings life.
On his way out of the restaurant I asked my new friend, Guy Who Brings the Sunshine, Is that ice cream as good as it looks? He grinned big – It’s even better!

I was sunshine when I was not irritated with the JCPenney clerks who had to figure out what to do with the order I was returning which was not the clothes I had ordered. Those clothes were size small but I am an XL Tall! It wasn’t their fault that my package was wrong. I treated them kindly and got kindness in return!
