When I get behind in keeping things organized, my work space looks like wind gusts of 55 mph just ripped through the room. The piles of papers and scratch notes and lists, lists, lists remind me that life has moved from “I’ve got this!” To “Good grief, have mercy.”
The same scenario plays out in my head when there’s just too much busy-ness going on. Priorities are up for grabs, broken hearts and broken bodies need attention and prayers, and I want to make everyone I love feel better. And the to-do lists…Oh! The to-do lists! They are floating around in my brain space like Auntie Em’s house in the Wizard of Oz.
And then…
This morning I’m sitting in my chair reading Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord.”
Well, THIS is good news!
Thank the good Lord that my thoughts are not His thoughts! He thinks and plans MUCH differently than I do. His ways of showing up, fixing, making things better, are sooooo much more helpful than my attempts to be Super Woman without the cape.
And isn’t this a relief!
God’s ways are the best ways. The best thinking on every single issue. Plus the power, the strength, the knowledge, and desire to show up and calm the wind storm in my head.
Friends, these words made a difference in my life today. My hope is renewed. My heart is calmer. And my head has stopped thumping. Maybe you’ll feel some encouragement in them, too?
We can trust His thoughts…His ways…His plans.
Because HE is God. He keeps his promises. And He always shows up.
“As for God, his way is perfect…” (2 Samuel 22:31)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
