You Are Not Alone

It comes in the backdoor sometimes, doesn’t it?

You aren’t looking for it…
You don’t expect it…
You didn’t invite it…
And yet, bam! Seemingly out of nowhere it appears front and center.

That feeling of alone-ness.

You find yourself standing in a room with really nice people…kind people…people who care about you.
And yet, it feels like you’re on the outside looking in.
You’re part of the group, but you don’t feel part of the group.
You feel…alone.

Know what I mean?

Or you’re a caregiver for a parent, or a husband, and your world so easily becomes small.
Your routine and focus and energy center on that one very important person.
You feel guilty for wondering what you’re missing in the other parts of your life.
You feel…alone.

Know what I mean?

Or your heart feels as though it’s been sliced open over and over again because death has become real.
How do you say good-bye? How do you take the next step?
What happens now?
You feel…completely, devastatingly…alone.

Know what I mean?

This feeling of alone-ness can make confident, successful, joy-filled women question all that is right with the world. Can’t it?
It moves us to crawl under the covers with a box of tissues and get this close to just not caring anymore.
It can take us to our knees.

And maybe that’s where we need to be.
On our knees.

Maybe it’s on our knees that we can start to think and see clearly again.
Because really.
Not one of us is alone.

You are reading this note – you are part of our little community that cares and shares and loves each other right where we are at.
You are not alone.

You have at least one friend that loves you.  You do. I bet his or her face just popped into your mind.
That person can’t imagine life with you.
You are not alone.

And as Max Lucado writes,
The maker of the stars would rather die for you than live without you. And that is a fact.
Wow.
You are not alone.

You are loved by a God who sent His only Son to die for you…
{Just think about that for a moment!}
So you would never be alone.
That’s a mighty big love.

So if you’re in the middle of an under-the-covers alone-ness melt-down…
If the pain is just too much and your weary shoulders just can’t bear any more…
Reach out and ask Jesus to meet you.
Right there under the covers.
He will.

And if you’re wanting a friendly voice…someone to just walk with you a bit…
Someone who can remind you that
You are not alone…
Email me a note.

I’ll be a Friend who will walk with you out of the alone-ness.

You are not alone.
