You and Agent Frank and Me

I spent last Friday afternoon sitting at my kitchen table with Agent Frank from the Geek Squad.

Could a Friday afternoon get any more exciting than that?

I mean, really. Computer meltdowns spiraling and client deadlines passing. Bring out the Advil.

{I know. Why the Advil when I’m trusting Jesus to keep my head from exploding? Because I think there are times when Jesus and Advil is the perfect combo.}

I decided while watching Agent Frank tap those keyboard keys and speak a language that is definitely not English or Norwegian, that if I’m ever banished to a remote island and can take two people with me (not Jesus, family, or close friends), I would take a computer geek and a dentist. {The dentist is a whole other thing. And yeah, maybe the computer geek would be one of the two even if family or friends were included.}

Computer problems turn my world upside down and inside out because I know absolutely nothing about computers, and technical stuff makes me break out in a rash around my eyes that is just downright scary to those who see me. When that little blue circle just keeps spinning around and around and around in the center of my computer screen, I start to think of things that are not listed in Philippians 4:8 (“…whatever is true…noble…right…pure…lovely…think on these things”).

You know what I mean, right?

But back to Agent Frank.

As I’m watching him calmly and methodically look through all the hidden crannies of this I can’t live without it piece of electronics, I realize he loves his work. And he’s very good at it.

I actually marveled at the reminder…

How each one of us can show up every day with skills and abilities and interests and passions that belong uniquely to us.
And in our uniqueness, we each make a difference.
Isn’t it amazing?

No one else can be Agent Frank.
No one else can be you.
No one else can be me.

Agent Frank is showing up every day doing great things.
You’re showing up every day doing great things.
I’m showing up every day doing great things except when I have computer problems.

Together, you and Agent Frank and I are changing the world.

Thank you for showing up.
