Sometimes it’s a book.
Sometimes a Bible verse.
Words from a Girlfriend.
And other times – many times – a song.
Encouragement comes in many forms.
This week the words from Steve Green’s song, Find us Faithful, have been running through my head. As my mind absorbs the words, my emotions follow. The words encourage me. Remind me. Challenge me.
Oh, most Holy God, remind me that my choices, my decisions, my life…
have an influence and impact that stretch beyond my small world.
We’re pilgrims on the journey
Of the narrow road
And those who’ve gone before us line the way
Cheering on the faithful, encouraging the weary
Their lives a stirring testament to God’s sustaining grace
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave
Lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
Will those who come behind me find me faithful?
Faithful to the God Who Loves Me Most?
To the One True God Who is Mercy. Forgiveness. Love?
God, help me lead a life that shouts a resounding, “Yes! By God’s redeeming grace.”
