Today, I will change the world

I have a new Girlfriend. (Love it!) Her name is Monica. Her mom, Lorrie Lievesay, is the Director of Training for Laurie Beth Jones, Inc. We’ve been friends for years.

Monica sent me a note last week after I shared a picture of a poster my mom has up in her apartment for encouragement. Monica has a heart for God, for the world, and for loving others to Jesus. She’s only 16 years old—and she’s living out her faith in the real world.

Monica has several posters up in her room—Bible verses, world maps, and one with words that really touched my heart, “Today, I will…” She’s not sure who wrote this paragraph. She was introduced to it on a missions trip with Teen Mania. (Perhaps Ron Luz, who started Teen Mania, wrote it.) Monica said that every team member says this declaration before every meal. It’s called the “the declaration of a world changer.”

“Today I will live honorably through my thoughts, actions, and speech. I choose to be full of faith: I will not only be a hearer, but a doer of the Word of God. I will serve before I demand, I will love and not hate, and I will give before I take. Today, I choose to make a difference in this world and be a part of something bigger than myself. I choose to dedicate my life to prayer and ask God for his miraculous power and the courage to do the impossible. I will make Godly relationships a priority in my life as I esteem others higher than myself. Today, I will live my life in such a way, that I will change the world.”

Monica still says this declaration every day.
Think about the impact we’d have if we did the same thing.

We would change the world.
