Those Songs…And This One

There are those songs…

The ones that have permanent residence in your collection of greatest hits that were a big deal to you at one time.

You hear the song and you are in another chapter of life…hits your emotional center all over again.

A few of mine from days past…

Puppy Love (Donny Osmond)…{Come on…I know there are some of you who would raise your hand and say, Me too!}

Hey Jude (The Beatles)…

Macarena (Los del Rio).. {What??? Yeah. Surprised me too. I never could catch up with all the words, but it was impossible not to join in on the “Hey, Macarena!” Right?}

And from my faith journey…
How Great Thou Art
At the Cross
At Calvary

The music, the words, the emotions in the songs you think of…
They are your classics.

This week I added another song to the music library in my heart and head:
God of the Mountain, sung by Lynda Randle.

Mom and I were sitting in her living room last Saturday afternoon. She was in her comfy chair and I was on the couch with my feet up on the 50-year-old dresser stool. We were watching one of Bill Gaither’s reunion shows. {Man. Can those people sing harmony!}

Lynda started singing this sweet, peaceful, very simple song and my heart about burst.

Mom started nodding her head in time to the music, I closed my eyes, and we both simply enjoyed the refreshing presence of Jesus. {Mom may not remember the song, but I bet her heart remembers the moment.}

I’m including the YouTube link here…
If your heart needs some lovin’, take a few minutes and listen.

{Don’t let the clothes they’re wearing worry you…the theme was The Church in the Wildwood so they were taking us back to the good old days when living was a bit simpler.}

God knows your heart. He will meet you there.

For the God on the mountain, is the God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He’ll make them right.
And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day is still God in the night.
