This is difficult for me…
Saying “No” to good things so I can say “Yes” to the best things.
There are only so many hours in a day. And there are a whole lot of good things to do to fill those hours. I’ve learned that that if I say “Yes” to every new idea, volunteer project, or networking luncheon that captures my attention – all good things – I end up tired, crabby, and not much fun to be around.
Why? I’m doing good things and trying to then find time to do the best things. It just doesn’t work.
The only way to successfully and significantly do what God has called me to do is to say “Yes” to the things that matter MOST first. And that requires me to say “No” to other good things.
Here’s one area that I knew required a shift in my priorities…
I love to volunteer and serve. But I realized that I was starting to say Yes too many times…and in exchange I was saying No to Steve, rest, and growing my business.
There’s of course nothing wrong with volunteering. But when it took the place of things even more important to me, it was no longer healthy.
Can you relate to how frustrating this Yes/No exchange can be?
I’m a work in progress on this one. AND I am grateful that God is gracious and patient. I’ve learned to intentionally ask God where He wants me to be and what He wants me to do. When I’m obedient to that, I live in energized balance. And that works.
What do you want to say “Yes!’ to?
What must you then say “No” to?
