Intentionally.

Intentionally exceptional.

Love that!

I’m working with an impressive consultant, Wendy K. Walters. Her team member, Kate, uses those two words in her signature line:
Intentionally exceptional,
Kate.

Doesn’t the phrase just inspire a whole bunch of confidence in her work and ability to deliver? It tells me that she is thinking about what it will take to be exceptional. And I will benefit from it.

That phrase has been circling through my mind the last few days. And I found myself wondering what I am intentional about. An even better question…what is it that requires my intention?

My answer came quite quickly…
I want to be intentionally kind.
{Oh, there are a lot of things that require intention in my life…but being intentionally kind is clearly where I want to land these days.}

I’d like to think I am kind…and I usually am…
But there is this part of me that wants to have my own way a bit too often.
A pity party becomes something I deserve when I feel rejected.
A sarcastic comment or passive-aggressive response seems appropriate when I am hurt.

And in all those situations…I am not always naturally kind.

Wouldn’t it be cool if I made an intentional choice to be kind in all circumstances?
Wouldn’t it be cool if we all made an intentional choice to be kind in all circumstances?
My word. Our homes and communities would be changed.

I’m working on this…being intentionally kind.
Before I say the harsh word, or give the glare, or tighten my muscles…
I want to ask myself, Is this kind? And then respond in a way that says, Yes.

Care to join me?

Intentionally kind,
Gaye
