Sharing When Sharing Isn’t Easy

Sharing is good, isn’t it?

We learn it growing up…

As Toddlers:
Screeching Nooooo!! when our little friend wants to play with our sand bucket in the sandbox.
Finally giving in when a chocolate chip cookie is promised in exchange.

In School:
We share homework notes with our classmates.
Eye shadow and blush with our best friends.
And dating tips when no else is listening.

As Adults:
Recipes for the crockpot.
Parenting and elder-care tips with our Girlfriends.
Prayers with our Heart Friends.

It’s good, right?

Yes…Until…

I start taking this whole sharing thing a bit too far.

I ask God for help,
and then I insist on helping Him before finding out what His game plan is.
I offer Him the sand bucket but I don’t let go of it.
Know what I mean?

While you’re doing your thing, God, I’m going to
Talk to the person…send the email…fight for right.
Fix it.

Do I really trust He can take care of it?
Of every single “it” that comes my way?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your understanding.

My lesson:
I can’t give the “it” to God with closed fists while coming up with my own plan.

Maybe we had it right back in the sandbox.

Share the sand bucket with God…
…That problem that we just want to hold tightly to, not trusting He’ll take good care of it…
Give it to Him with open, releasing hands.

What we get back is even better than that chocolate chip cookie…
It’s HIS best work, solution, fix.

So share it. Let it go.
Release it to The One Who Knows Best.
Trust that God will do what He says He will do.
He will take care of it.
