Real Life, Uncommon Grace

I love life.
Even when it is messy.
I just don’t always enjoy the messy life.
And, sad to say, the messy doesn’t always bring out the best in me. Sigh.

But the messiness is going to come.
Real life isn’t real without it.

That’s because life is made up of relationships.
And relationships are made up of people.
And people are going to disappoint us.

Our responses to those relationships—real life—will shape our homes, communities, workplaces, and world.

And for that very reason, we need to live Grace.

Grace shows up when we choose to Love. Forgive. Overlook. Accept.
Even when the other person is wrong.
Even when the other person doesn’t deserve it.

Because that’s what Grace is.
It is giving or receiving something that is not deserved.

Philip Yancey says, Grace is, by definition, unfair.
Yes, yes, yes.

Anne Lamott writes, I do not at all understand the mystery of grace—only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.

We are met with God’s Grace – Uncommon Grace – every single day.
God never grows weary of giving us what we don’t deserve; forgiving us; fighting for us; showing mercy by withholding what we do deserve.

It is God’s uncommon grace that creates something beautiful out of the messiness of our lives.

Real Life provides our own private workshop to learn how to Live Grace.
All because of His Grace.
I am a student.

Real Life, Uncommon Grace.
